So, I got caught stealing at Walmart. When they counted up how much I stole it was only $3.47, ridiculous, right? The police said the only reason they took it this far was because they had already been out to that same walmart at least 6 times that day and they were tired of letting people go.
I live in North Carolina. My boyfriend's family is telling us to use the "prayer for judgment." Which basically means, the judge has to trust you to never do it again, and if you don't get in trouble for a year or so, the charge will be wiped off your record. Is this true?
My mom wants me to get a lawyer; my boyfriend's saying I don't need one. Yet, he's 17 and I'm 19. (He'll be turning 18 in January.) So, I would be considered an adult, and I don't know if they would treat me differently because I'm older, and my amount of stuff was significantly lower than what my two friends stole.
I would really appreciate it if I didn't get rude answers. I understand what I did was wrong, and I'm an adult, I shouldn't be doing stuff like this. I just want some advice..maybe if anyone else went through a similar situation could help, that'd be amazing..
