In court ask for an attorney to represent you. Do not discuss any pleas... Your attorney will handle that for you.

Plead not guilty and hire an Attorney or request public defender. Give no statements to Police or DA until you have met with said Attorney. When you meet this Lawyer ask what your defense and plea options are. Be sure to ask if there is a Diversion program or something similar.
