Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft First Summary offense with Shoplifting

I'm 20 years old in college and decided to do something completely stupid and try shoplifting a $34.99 video game since I have no money. I have the citation and I have been scared worried nervous etc. cause I don't know how to plea. At first I wanted to just plea guilty to get it over with then I thought about my record. So then I talked to a couple people I know who are studying law and they told me to plead not guilty and leniency and try getting an ARD to get it off my record within 1-2 years. I have been searching to consult a lawyer about my options but cannot seem to find one in my living area of PA to consult with. I just want to get this over and done with and possibly get a clean record.

Lawyers are everywhere open the yellow pages you should find one. Yes you are correct what you seek is ACD or Diversion (or whatever name they use). Once you complete said program your case is usually "dismissed" which means no criminal record. Start calling Attorneys see which ones offer free consultations, get as many as you can. then you can get your answers if your local court has aforementioned programs and how to get in them
