No one can tell you what will happen to him.

I can tell you what usually happens in cases similar to his.

Most likely, people in similar positions get offered a deal.

You plead guilty (I am not advising HIM to do this) and get probation.

You will be ordered to pay fines and costs.

During probation people are ordered to pay probation costs, monthly.

Most are ordered to undergo random drug testing.

Some people, however, get jail time amounting to anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.

I would suggest your BF do everything he is told to do.

He should never miss a court date and always dress neatly and conservatively when going to court.

He should be polite, and always use yes, sir or no, ma'am.

Finally, he should work with his attorney to dispose of this problem properly.

He should also stay COMPLETELY away from any illegal drugs and avoid drinking to excess.

If he was caught with 2 ounces and a scale he was obviously selling, and even though he doesn't have priors he should not expect much leniency. As said above, the best result for him will likely gone from a plea bargain. He will be lucky if he is able to shake off the sales charge and just get possession.

Alcohol & drug crimes, arrests

Drug possession is the crime of having one or more illegal drugs in one's possession, either for personal use, distribution, sale or otherwise. Illegal drugs fall into different categories and sentences vary depending on the amount, type of drug, circumstances, and jurisdiction.
