Son (20 yr. old) pulled over in a car in Pa., cited for small amount marijuana and plastic bottle modified to smoke marijuana, both misdemeanors. Is an attorney needed to plead guilty and pay fine? I know it is recommended but money is not available. Speaking with a lawyer reference service on phone, it appears the fee may be double what the fine is.

One never really needs a lawyer. Especially if you're going in to plead guilty.
