My fiance has been in jail since the end of Feb. (80 days). He was arrested last June on grand theft charges. He went to court almost every month and it kept being continued due to finding him a lawyer. Once found, he was given a court date in Feb. His lawyer said that he would get 2-3 years probation, no time served. He didn't want that for we plan to move this summer. He "forced" the issue by missing court and then turning himself in, knowing he would go to jail. Since then he's been awaiting a trial. I was under the understanding that according to the speedy trial form he signed that he had to go to court in 30 days. Is that true? If so, then he's been violated and is there now a chance he will get out with time served? We're in Florida, if that makes a difference. Thank you!
