for bad checks back 20 years. I need to know how far do they go back. Thanks for the help.

Are you asking about the Statute of limitations on a particular charge?

If its for a bad check, as regards their collection, generally its two years (for civil cases).
If its criminal, the SOL in VA is explained here:

As far as a warrant for Failure to Appear, that's a bench warrant, and doesn't expire.
The court periodically recalls the older ones, normally.
The warrant on the underlying charge "NSF Check" is usually renewed periodically. The time varies by state, and in many cases, a capias is issued to keep the warrant alive.

In many counties you can simply check online to see if a warrant is active, or pay a fee to many services who can reveal if a warrant is active or not.
The easiest way is call a bail bondsman in the county where you think the warrant is active. He or she can tell you if a warrant exists, and how to get the process started to take care of it.
