Foreign Worker charged with possession of schedule 1 substance

I am a British citizen living and working in Canada on a 2 year work visa.

Regrettably, myself and two friends were arrested for possession of a schedule 1 substance (I was told that it was cocaine, roughly 1/2 gram). I have a court date in March.

I have no previous convictions.

I would like to know what the likely punishment will be, and specifically, how it will effect my visa; will I still be able to live and work in Canada?

Do I need a lawyer? What are my options? I need advice.

Thank you.

You might want to talk to an immigration lawyer in your area.

You're in Canada.
This forum focuses exclusively on US laws.

I can tell you that surely you do require the services of a barrister or solicitor with the charges staring you in the face!!!!

Good luck.
