Funds on dead brothers paycard

my brother passed away suddenly 2 weeks ago we pretty much have taken care of every thing except his payroll acct. from his job we can't find his moneynetwork paycard but he has the app in his phone and the available funds balance is less than $1000. my family isn't petty so nobody is tripping on the loot. So my question is would i need a probate order along with the death certificate to have money network cut me a check for the balance

Courts are closed all over the country.
There are some exceptions for certain criminal offenses.
For the most part, civil matters aren't being addressed during the panic-demic.
I suspect contacting the employer will also be difficult.
But, you've got nothing to lose by trying.

Assuming that he had very little in the estate, you should be able to use a simplified procedure in California. Ask they bank if they have a specific form (small estate affidavit) they would like you to use, or use the sample form that the state provides.
