Furniture on art van card

My g/f's ex b/f has furniture that she purchased on her art van card for 6,000 and he wont let her get in to get it. he is sayin that she owes half of the rent when he is the one that wanted to move closer to work she didnt have the money to afford it and he knew that they both were on the lease but she let him and then he changed the locks so she couldnt get in to get the furniture. what is the best way to go about this. i dont wana help pay for somethin that we dont have. im iin michigan

If she has tried solving it amicably with no success.........then she has to gather witnesses and any evidence and sue in small claims court. But mediation in such cases is best if the both still have some common friends.
