Garage sale leftovers

I hosted a garage sale for 3 families at my home. Everyone left all the unsold things in my garage for ovee a year now. Do I have the right to trashbor sell those items now?

You created a bailment by agreeing to store the items. You can't just discard or sell their junk. They have recourse.

Notify them that you're holding their stuff, and request them to come get it. I'd allow them 60 days to do so.

Send them certified letters, to their last known addresses, return receipt requested, and you'll have a signed receipt showing they got them.


This is what a landlord must do. It's more than enough to satisfy your gratuitous bailment predicament.
