I am a single mom with two teenagers and a deadbeat dad. I work for an insurance company as a customer service representative and make so little that I receive public assistance to help me with my health insurance, utilities, and food stamps. I have a credit card that I maxed out when I couldn't make ends meet. Soon after, I had to stop making payments, so now I'm getting the threatening calls. I live in Illinois, and had heard that garnishment rules vary from state to state. My question is this..as they have threatened to garnish my wages to collect the balance due, is that a possibity?
