can funds be garnished from a bank account if the account is not in your name but the funds being deposited in that account are?

Generally, no. Only the debtor's accounts can be garnished.

I can envision circumstances in which a debtor depositing funds into a third party's account, and possibly the third party, are sued for defrauding/defeating creditors, and that might give the creditor access to the third party's account.
