i thought it was illegal for a bouncer to hit a patron. I was at the bar last night and these bouncers told me and my two friends to leave, when we left the premises the bouncer smacked me in the face, breaking one of my teeth out and cutting my mouth up. When i started to back away, stating that i wanted no trouble and we were leaving he hit me in the face again. The cops that were on the site didn't want to take my statement, and told me that i should drop it. This man that hit me was wearing his bar uniform, and attacked me without warning. I did as he asked and was leaving. How am i supposed to pay for my tooth to be replaced? I don't have the money or any type of insurance.

File a claim in small claims court, and let them get the summons. Secondly, I would call the police department and ask for a seargent or supervisor. Explain to them what the police did, and ask why they would ignore this.

Unless in self defense, t is generally unlawful for anyone to hit anyone.

Sooo ... for NO reason, he just up and punched you in the face and knocked a tooth out?

Why does that sound ... uh ... like it is not the complete and total story?

You can go to the station and make a report. If they refuse to take your report, ask to speak with a supervisor and ask for a reason why they will no take your report for the battery (which, if it is as you described, is almost certainly a felony).

Even if no crime report is taken, you can still retain legal counsel and try to sue the bar and the bouncer that assaulted you.

Ok, why do I feel we are not getting the whole story here. Nonetheless, security, (bouncer) is authorized by the owner as an agent to observe and detect. However, he or she may use necessary force to protect life and property or in some cases detain an individual until CLE arrival. Primarily, there purpose is that of a witness and any such position requires excellent PR skills. As for your particular case, if you feel you have been wronged, you can file both civil and criminal matters.
