I purchased a 2 family home with a tenant in there about a year ago. She lives in the apt downstairs. Her lease ended on 09/30/07. It is now Oct 12 and the tenant is still there. She does not want to leave. I called the police precinct to get her out but they said there is nothing they can do. She has legal rights to be in the apt as long as she wants and if I want her out then I will have to go to landlord/tenant court. If the lease has ended why don't I have the right to change locks on the door technically the apt is no longer hers. The tenant is very disruptive. She plays loud music and she has 5 cats that uses the bathroom in my yard which I have to clean up everyday. Someone please help me get her out.
