Getting caught by policemen while driving.

My mum was driving a car in an ordinary night while I was sitting in the backseat. I was not wearing a seatbelt (I know it is againt the law because everyone in a car must wear seatbelts). However, I still do not understand why the policemen pulled over us when there were so many other cars in front of us. I am definitely sure that they would not be able to see through our car windows. I am so annoyed because we had to pay 60 pounds for that. They would never know whether I was wearing a seatbelt or not seriously. What they have said was surprising: you are not wearing a seatbelt are you?

Im asian living in England and our car is mercedes s class. The only thing I can think of is that it was a racial discrimination against my family. What's your opinion? Thanks.

I think its a moot point. Why? You paid the fine.

So, you were driving a Benz. If you claim they couldn't see if you were wearing a seat belt or not, why would they (the police) be able to tell what race or ethnicity you claim? No, I don't think anything other than traffic law enforcement was involved here. Buckle up for safety and to avoid having the government pick your pocket.
