Getting name off a mortgage

My husband had bought a house with his ex girlfriend but hasnt lived there in over 3 years what are his options to get his name taken off the mortgage and what steps should he take?

He can ask the mortgage company directly what he needs to do. Hopefully the exGF will cooperate.
