getting out of a lease

I want to get out of my current lease, however i still owe back rent. the landlord does not want to fix any repairs in my apt and wont return any of phone calls that i have left in the las 3 weeks.
i want to leave due to the fact that he wont reapir the problems in the apt and im am tired of having tconstantly leave 5 to 10 voicemails each day without a phone call back.
What can i do????

Is there a repair clause in the lease?
I don't see where you are from, but most state have renters rights handbooks available. You may want to google (your state) renters rights. That should help you out.
