getting served

Hi there not for sure where i should of posted a question like this so here it goes.. I found out the my ex girlfriend that is the mother of our son has reopend and old court case and is trying to serve me papers.. At this time i have no idea what it is for as we are not on talking grounds. It seems like the only time they serve papers are the same time im at work. She does not know where i work so the servers only go to my house when im not home. i guess this has been going on for about 5 weeks . My question is how long can this go on? "ie" is there a time allowed to server papers before it expiors or what happens when they are uble to serve me?? is there anyway other i can find out what she is trying to serve me BEFORE i get serverd? Go to the sheriff's office (or whoever is trying to serve you papers) and ask to be served.

Otherwise, she could say you couldn't be found and there would be a default judgment against you in this lawsuit.
