Forty-eight states belong either to an agreement called the "Driver's License Compact" or the "Non-Resident Violator Compact." (The only states that don't belong to one or the other are Michigan and Wisconsin.) When you get a ticket in one of these states, the department of motor vehicles will relay the information to your state -- and the violation will affect your driving record as if the ticket had been given at home.

So, your traffic violations in New York will be reported to the Colorado D.M.V. and you can find out the number of points against you regardless of whether you do or do not have a New York driver's license.

Now, a New York driver license would have been issued automatically had the application was made within 30 days of moving to that state, but after 3 years of residency, your application will be treated as one for a new driver license and you will have to pass the written, the road test, eye exam, etc. So, you are basically driving without a license.

But before any of that happens, you will have to take care of all the outstanding violations before you are issued a New York license.

Thank you very much for yr help To put your mind at rest all the tickets have been paid within the due date Thanks again
