Ok There is a company that does collections for a major cabel company. The owner wants to give me a base salary of $1500.00 per week plus whatever % of collections I collect. He has a 1 year deal he wants me to sign but says the work will only last 6 to 7 months. I am pretty sure that he has to pay me the $1500 per week even when the work in that area runs out but wanted to get a little reassurance from some of you all. He says he will pay me for the remander of the contract and I know its all in the wording of the contract, but are there any ways he can get out of the deal once the 6 to 7 months are up? I ask because i am part owner of a satellite sales and installations co. and will be losing money (only about $200 a week) during this period. Thanks for any input.

And ARMY if you answer, please take it easy on me and don't bust my chops to bad, LOL. Just joking.

Blue, blue, blue; my dear buddy Blue!

There are many ways one can weasel out of an "employment" contract. Heck, it might not be a contract.
It might only be a letter of employment or a statement if work.

Without reading the, ahem, contract; I couldn't advise you properly.

But, as peppermint said, take it to a lawyer for review.
That is always a prudent thing to do, if you aren't sure about what you're signing.

As former president Reagan said, "Trust, but verify!"
