On 07/17 I was driving in Gatlinburg on US 321 which was a single lane road. Due to slope my Van went over speed, and I didn't applied brakes as there was no one either in front or rear of my Van. A cop on the opposite lane seen me and followed me. He pulled over me in a speed zone of 45 MPH. Cop said the he caught me with Radar in 35MPH zone driving at 63 mph. I said since it was slope the Van got the speed, and I have not accelerated the Van to go over speed. Cop gave me the ticket of $113.75 and asked me to pay through mail or to appear in court if I want to contest.

I am staying in Wisconsin, and having a NC license which is getting expired on 31st July 10. When I called the TN court to ask how many points I will be getting, clerk told that the points will be assigned by the DMV of the license issuing state i.e. NC. When I called NC DMV, clerk told that since it is out of the state case, I won't be getting any points, but since I was driving 15mph above posted limit, my license will be surely suspended, and if I have not paid the ticket I should get the ticket to be adjusted speeding under 15mph over posted limit.

I am here on a work permit and my extension is under process, and I can get new license only after getting approval for my visa extension petition which will take atleast 2 months, probably the period my license is suspended. After getting approved petetion I would need to go to WI DMV to get a new license, will my NC expired license will be checked by WI DMV before issuing new license, and will they be getting that my suspension record with old license

Sorry guys for the long post, but I want to tell all the facts for getting advice whether to get help from a lawyer and contest ticket, or to ask for a driving course from court and just pay the ticket or just pay the ticket as I won't be having issues in getting new WI license.

Ask the TN court if you can take traffic school. If you can, do it. It costs about $25 and after you complete it (only a moron couldn't do it), the ticket is dismissed. No points, no problems. Ask the court if you can, then Google "TN traffic school".

thank you very much. I will contact the court.

Since you were more than 20 over the limit you may not be able to get traffic school without appearing in court. If you can get traffic school, that is the easiest way to handle this.
