Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Got caught shopligting in CO what am i lookin at????

Ok so I just got caught shopligting and the local grocery store. i went to the deli got some food probably around $10 worth sat down ate it and walked out of the store. needless to say i got caught and got a Shoplifting; Retail theft citation my court date is june 16th..what kind of steps do i need to make to try and get out of this with as little trouble as possible?
 
i meant to mention that i have no previous criminal record...i dont have a lawyer im 21 never been in trouble before never needed one...are you saying i should probably get one??
 
im just confused about it all i was never read my rights ya know i was never told if you cant afford a lawyer one would be appointed all it was was the cop lecturing me and writing me a citation and telling me when i had to go to court. Do you have any idea what kind of money a lawyer might charge to handle a case like this?
 
Unless the Officer questioned you about crime Miranda was not required. The cost of a lawyer will depend on what they do for you and how much work is involved. Most offer free consultations get as many as can. then you can ask about options like Diversion. If you cannot afford any one of these Attorneys request a Public Defender when you go to court. then take what you learned from the consultations when you talk to Public defender
