Got fired

Got fired about a month ago for they stated that the one of the drawers were short. They said one of my checks were cashed out at a different computer other than the drawer. I did not cash anything out though. It's a family owned business and the check wad like 70 bucks. I told them like we do I gave it to the bar so look at the bartender. He has drug problems in the past but they kept him on cause his mom runs the other restaurant for them. Now there calling me and saying if I dnt pay 2500 there going to call the police and have me arrested. I dnt know what to do

You can't stop them from contacting the police.

You should stop talking to them.

If the police contact you, you are not required to say anything, but provide your name, date of birth, address, and say I respectfully refuse to discuss this without a lawyer present.

They (the police) might try to continue talking, or try to confuse you, but stand firm and ask for a lawyer.

If they arrest you, you'll be allowed to post bond, so find out what might be required by contacting a few local bail bondsmen in advance.

Then wait.

You can't stop it.

All you can do is be ready and be smart if they do as they say.
