Hello I am a 25 year old male who has never had even a traffic ticket. Now I'm facing grand larceny charges which is a class d felony. I moved to ny state about 3 years ago and was fired from my place of employment 2 years ago. I filed a unemployment claim and had to sit down with a career counselor that is employed by the state dept. of labor. I got a job interview and was told that the position was part time and wouldn't usually have that many hours. I relayed this to the counselor. He than told me to still claim 0 to everything because it wasnt over 32 hours. So I did and recieved benefits. I than got a call from a police officer in july of 2013 and was told to turn myself in. I did the next morning as soon as I left work. Was arrained in city court and assigned a public defender. I had since found mail from april of 2013 from the department of labor stating that I owe $2407. Although the paperwork I recieved in july states that I owe $5510.55. I have shown my attorney all of this paperwork and he agreed that there is a discrepancie. He than sat me down with the DA and showed him this paperwork. I was told 2 weeks later that the inditment was that friday dec 20, 2013. I have not heard anything since then. PLEASE HELP!! I HAVE A FAMILY AND AM SCARED OF THE THE EFFECTS THAT A FELONY CONVICTION WOULD HAVE ON MY AND MY FAMILIES FUTURES!! What do I do now?

That's the thing he hasn't said anything after he told me about the grand jury indictment. I have a lot riding on this case and my family does too

You might want to talk to your attorney (public defender).

It's the holiday, happy season. Not much news until next year, 2014.

Where and who is the counselor who told you to lie?

Find the counselor and see what he says about him telling you to lie and steal.
