Sold a 20 year old vehicle on craigslist. Buyer checked it over and drove it twice. I was up front with pictires of rust. Buyer paid cash, signed title. One month later buyer is saying I fraudulently sold him the vehicle, as the frame was found to have rust flaking and he can not get it insured in Canada. He is threatening to sue me.

There is no "threaten" to sue. There is only sue or not sue.

He's pushing your buttons, trying to scare you into doing or saying something stupid.

I suggest you tell him politely ONCE that he bought the vehicle AS IS and to go away. Then block his calls, texts, emails and STOP talking to him. It's the talking that gets you trouble.

In the unlikely event that you get sued, you defend based on exactly what you've told us here.

He might not sue. Anyway; when he bought the used car/private sale, the vehicle was sold "as is" & it is buyer beware. The buyer should have had the vehicle checked out by a mechanic of his choice before buying it. If you are sued, your defense will be sold "as is" .......
