Guardianship

I have sole custody of my minor 12 year old son. I have court papers to prove this was done when he was just two years old. I want to have my sister be his legal guardian also, for many reasons such as school, health & insurance, inheritance, 401k etc...and for the obvious reason such as my demise. What legal documents are need? Do I need to invovlve a lawyer or just have the papers noterized? Does a probate situation arise?

where is the father? You cannot will A child. The father would automatically get custody generally unless paternity was never established. If he has been totally not involved and not supporting the child then the courts may consider your wishes.
