Hi all,

I recently agreed to a proposal with handyman to do about $6800 worth of repairs to the exterior of the house. I signed a document outlining the repairs and the price (all it said was :this proposal accepted by" signed) and gave him a deposit for a third of the work, this was a week ago Thursday. The following Monday I spoke with a realtor who recommended holding off on the repairs before a final determination of my decision to sell, so I called the handyman the very next morning (Tuesday) and explained that I wouldn't be able to do the repairs to which he responded that he couldn't return the money because he hired new people to get the work done. I decided to be reasonable about the situation and proposed that instead we do as much work as the deposit would allow. He agreed and said he would meet me this last Thursday, which he didn't, he called and rescheduling for today (Saturday). Again he was late, and now I'm becoming obviously frustrated with the situation. So I ask any who can help, what are my options, do I demand my money back or am I in some way contractually obligated to pay.

Thanks

PS I live in NC if that has any affect on the legal ramifications

He kept his end of the bargain - he was late, but showed up to do the work. You have no legal case here... Good Luck!
