I was hiking in Palos Verdes on Saturday with my dog. There are never any rangers at this park. I had my dog on a leash attached to my waist and we were jogging on a trail. I had my earphones in. The ranger skidded past me in his truck and swerved in front of me to stop, almost colliding with my dog and i. I was scared and angered by this carelessness and took out my earophones. The woman ranger began telling me i was being cited for having my dog off leash. I showed her the dog was on a leash and I asked who she was and why she was harrassing me and almost hit me with her truck. She had no badge and wouldnt give me her badge number or name, but was insisting on getting my personal info. I refused and tried to keep hiking, She physically put her large frame in my way to obstruct me from moving away. I was scared and gave her a fake name and address because of her harsh tone, forceful attitude, physical stature and aggression, and the fact that she wouldn't tell me who she was. I tunred around form her and walked back up the mountain to my car. When I got there, she had 3 police cars waiting for me at the top and she, who isn't a police office but a park and rec peace officer, or something...I don't know. She cited me for having my dog off leash, running from a peace officer (although she was in a truck and I was hiking really slowly in the heat uphill with an 80 lb dog) and lying or giving false info to an officer, which is a misdemeanor. Does she have any leg to stand on? Its her word against mine. Oh, that;s right, she recorded me giving her a fake name (which isn't the name of a real person, I just made it up) without informing me that she was recording the conversation. Will that admissible in court?
