Hasn't gone bad yet ...

Hi ... I bought a tractor friday evening and wrote a check. Told the seller to call me when check clears and I would come p/u the tractor. I did keep a copy of the check but, did not get a bill of sale. I called seller back saturday and offered cash but, he said his wife deposited the check friday night. Do I have recourse if he sells to someone else or shoud I stop payment on the check. Thanks

I didn't get an answer fast enough so, I stopped payment before it was too late to do so. The guy might be as honest as they come but, Just got an uneasy feeling when I called to offer him the cash (so I could pick the tractor up sooner), and he said his wife went friday "night" to deposit the check. I could tell they were in a bind for money so, that played a part in my decision also. I will still buy with the cash whenever he calls me.

YOU should tell him what you have done--- other wise they will think they have this $$ and wriote checks on that $$. When you rcheck comes back Stop Pmnt-- all those checks they wrote will bounce and the fee's will be outragous-- You need to come clean with this guy-
