I had funds of my father's in my account for several years which I would transfer to him as he needed money, so now I am having to show where the funds went (they were used to support my Dad). No problems there as I have receipts and all, only when I did an accounting I provided all my bank statements over the time period with all but the Dad expenditures redacted. I thought that was all I had to provide- the details on the items I am claiming as expenditures for my Dad. But my brothers counsel is now demanding un-redacted statements.

1. is this legal - why do I have to show items on my statements not related to the estate, items I am not claiming?
2. if I do have to show every line item, can I still hide my balance and possibly even the $ amounts of my personal items? Why should everyone get to see my bank balance and the personal items of my family?

All an attorney can do, in fact, all anyone can do is demand.

You are free to ignore the attorney's demands or requests.

Only a judge can order you to produce the entire record without any redaction of any information.
You can't ignore that without subjecting yourself to legal jeopardy.

Bottom line, until you are served with a court order, you don't have to do a darn thing!

In the interim, I urge you to retain counsel.

This could eventually get bumpy, or turn criminal.

You want to make sure YOU do everything on your power to protect your rights!
