My father recently passed away. I am the sole beneficiary to all of his life insurance, etc. I applied with his company for his pension plan benefits. He enrolled in the plan in 1997 but yet when I applied to receive his pension plan benefits, I was denied because the company said it hadn't been vested for 10years. I have a statement showing all the years he had been enrolled in the plan and the individual amounts applied to the fund each year. The statement also states that he is 100% vested. The company itself didn't send me the statement, I found it in his recent mail before he passed. At 20 years of age when my father passed, handling all of this legal business is very difficult for me. I feel like the company is trying to pull something over on me because I'm young and they think it will be easy to make me just go away empty handed. I am a full-time student going to school 40 hours a week. I do not have my father anymore to help me with my bills while I'm in school. I am desperate for help with this situation. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.
