My mother bought in-the-ear hearing aids a few months ago, and they never could get them adjusted to help her hearing. So, the technician suggested trying the behind-the-ear aids. They were a bit more comfortable, but they caused an allergic reaction in her ears and she simply cannot tolerate wearing them. We tried to return them and were told that we couldn't, since the 30 day trial period was past. I contacted the owner of the company and he assured me that we could come to an amicable conclusion, which to him meant going back time and time again for adjustments. He said he would send a rep from the home office here to the local office to re-check her hearing and go from there. My mother chose not to go that route as she is just worn down from all this. She just wants to return them and stop paying for them. The owner told me that the aids are FDA regulated and they cannot be returned. If that is the case, why was she allowed to return the first ones? My mother is 83 and quite infirm. Even so, we kept all appointment for adjustments until she wasn't able to do so. Could I simply send them back to the company and stop paying for them? The payments are $83 a month, and the aids are just lying in a drawer. She said that she would just keep paying, but the things cost over $3,000, which is quite a bit to pay if she isn't going to use them.
