hearing aid lost in mail from repair facility, uninsured by repair company,bill paid

Hi, my wife has hearing aids in both ears. a local facility affiliate with a major hearing aid manufacturer sent one of her hearing aids off to be repaired. the bill is paid in full. this affiliate says he sent it back to us by US mail uninsured...he has no proof and has several hundred dollars of our hard earned money. the only reply we have gotten from his office is that if we send him about seven hundred dollars he will gladly send us a new one. what can I do?

Send a demand letter to the legal department of this company, or their registered agent, and see if you get a response. Otherwise your option is small claims court. They will likely make things right with you rather than pay even more money defending themselves in court.
