I'm a 22 year old with no priors at all. I live in Augusta county and I'm absolutely terrified. I completely understand that what I did was wrong but I guess I just let greed get the best of me and decided to take two items of make up and an outfit for my little sister from (retail store). The merchandise totalled a little over 30 dollars. Needless to say, I have no idea what to expect and browsing the internet has done nothing but freak me out even more. I just want a realistic answer as to what will most likely happen to me. Also, I qualified for a public defender but they told me to wait until closer to the court date to contact him so I'm just looking for information now to possibly calm my mind or at least prepare myself for the worst. I know the maximum is 12 months in jail and a 2500 dollar fine but I'm praying that's not typical. If it helps, I do have a job.
