So here's the deal;

On Thursday 12/7/07 I went to the jail with my roommate to try and bail out a friend. Both of us wound up being detained for PI charges. I also got charged with having a False Identification(Class A). I did not try to use the ID, I just had it in my wallet. I bailed out the next day but now I need to appeal the PI to get it placed on the same docket as the False ID charge so I can do the court for them both at the same time. I am going to be appointed a Public Defender but they said I won't get one until my arraignment on January 24th. I was also told that I need to file the appeal within the next 7 days. The court secretaries acannot give me any legal advice on how to file it and a lawyer wants $800 to do it so I'm kinda in a jam. :cool: Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

You can't "appeal" until you are found guilty. Having the false ID in your possession is good enough since it was found when you were booked. The PD should be able to work something out on both charges.

The police probably appreciate you turning yourself in.

Maybe it's not called "appealing." I'm going off what I heard from the lawyers. I have to do something with the PI charge in order to get it to be on the same docket as the other charge.

Saved 'em lots of gas money :D

Talk to the clerk of court. I think what you are asking is for the arraignment on both charges to take place at the same time. This is the normal procedure so I really don't understand why they gave you two court dates unless it was two different officers.
