Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft HELP got caught shoplifting, police involved

Dear forum,

i seek help with my shoplifting case, i walked in and bought two items while attempting to take a $2 item (i know im stupid) they stopped me at the door and took me in to take pictures for records, but since i did not have any photo ID on me, the police were called to verify that i am who i say to be. I was not fined, but the major chain can charge me $50-$350. I was issued a court date by the officer but was not ticketed, but given a court slip? i need help, i have a clean record, im 20, in school for aerospace engineering, no money for attorney but have started to consult with some to get answers....my main concern is, how do i get this off my record if it is on my record at all?, if the officer gave me a slip with a court date then does that mean it is on my record? i'm stressing out and it's almost finals, my court date is on finals week and is stressing me out more, im worried about this more than school now because i fear it will affect my future with significant consequences. Please Help Thank You prior.

i am guilty as of now, from what i've told them i told them the truth, i didnt know what i was thinking and that i had very poor judgement, at that moment, i did pay for the other two items, but that doesnt justify me stealing an item......if i am already guilty can i not remove it from my record through anything?

When you talk to these Attorneys ask them if Diversion is available in your case

Meaning what? If diversion or the like is not available then you will likely have a criminal record if convicted
