I have joint custody with my ex however I have physical/residental custody of my son. My ex holdsmy sons insurance as was written in the divorce papers. My question is by law does my ex have to provide me with my sons insurance card or at least a copy of it?
I have researched this and can not find anything about this... I would think I should have a copy of this in case of an emergency...
any advice would be appreciated ... thanks

There's no law saying that your ex must furnish you with the card unless it's actually stated in your custody agreement.

You can go to court and ask the court to compel your ex to provide you with at least a copy though.

FYI, as someone who has worked with this for many, many years, you shouldn't need the card or even a copy of it if you know the group and ID numbers. The HR department of your husband's employer (assuming it is employer-sponsored insurance) should be able to give you the group number (though probably not the ID number); if you have the group number, the Customer Service department of the insurance carrier should be able to give you the individual ID. And if you still have a record of your ex-'s SSN, you may be able to get both from the insurance carrier.
