I am currently living in Washington State but was born and raised in California. I need to know what I can do to find out about my grandmas will and assets. She has been in a care home for the last ten years they have had control of her money. They have pretty much kept me out of the loop. I do visit a few times a year to check on her but she was not an open person. I am not sure what there is left. The person listed as the beneficiated or executer of the will has passed away. And no one else has been mentioned in the will. My brothers and I am the next of kin. Please assist me in finding out how to obtain records of her finances and such. What are my rights as the next of kin and what I can do? Do attorneys handle these sorts of things without being paid first and take out of what is to be paid? Or is this something I can do myself???
