Help, Need Answers

Hi, I Rented A House And Signed A 1 Year Lease, But Stayed There An Additional 3 1/2 Years With No Signing Of A Lease. Then Vacated The House Without Notice, 7 Months Later I Then Get A Served Summons To Appear In Court For Damanges To The House. I.e. Carpet And Paint. Do I Have Any Rights Not To Pay For Those Damages. Thank You.
 
If there are damages to the house beyond normal wear and tear, then you are responsible for them. It doesn't matter if you had a signed lease or not, you still were on month to month.

It doesn't mean the Landlord automatically has a strong case, but if you left behind damage, ruined carpets, holes in the wall, animal damage, etcc he can certainly ask for damages in court.
