I'm 21 years old and my parents are getting divorced. There is going to be about half a million dollars split between the two of them from the sale of property, however there is just a little problem. My mother is irresponsible, naive, and in my opinion incapable of handling such a large sum of money. This mixed with an insane jealously and resentment towards the divorce could lead to a disaster. For example, she had told me she was going to purposely spend all of my father's money on another man just to piss him off.
She has no education, doesn't speak English, and makes minimum wage. Not to mention lacks any concept of the value of money.
Is it possible to get a court ordered power of attorney so that I may protect her future?
