I was caught shoplifting today. I live in CA and got caught shoplifting a pair of sunglasses priced at $275. He said it was a misdemeaner and petty theft. They had me on camera and they made me sign a paper and told me to show up in court. The officer who had put me in handcuffs said that I shouldn't be too worried. He said that I had a clean record and haven't done anything in the past. I have a friend who is lawyer and I'm going to meet wth him tomorrow. I'm honestly a good guy, 23 years of age, and I was wondering what I should expect or if there are any way i could get a diversion program. Any help would be appreciated.
