my sister and I were caught shoplifting from a Walmart. The items totaled around $30.00 for each of us. We were taken to the office where we filled out paperwork, they took a picture of each of us, we filled out the no trespassing warrant, and provided our information to the police. We were told that this WOULD show up on our records and we would have to say yes on job applications, college applications, etc. We were then handed our court date paper (which states, January 11, 2011, even though it should say 2012) and then told us that we were free to go. This is our first time and we're a bit uneasy about what to expect at our court hearing. The cop told us that this was a warning, but we have to explain what happened in court and that was all. Do we need to find someone to represent us?

If you have clean records there may be an option that could keep this off your record so you can say "no" on applications. Start calling lawyers many offer free consultations, get as many as you can. When you meet with these Attroneys ask them if Diversion or ACD is available in your case
