My friend and were caught shoplifting at zellers, they contacted the police, and they have our name written down, after few weeks, the sent me "civil recovery"letter, asking for $500 dollar, and i decided to pay, also the letter shows how to pay, i wonder if that is safe if i just send the money? because i scared that, the money will be lost in the way,..please kindly tell me what to do ,or tell me other ways to pay for the recovery,!
also i wanted to ask ,if i pay the recovery, will everything going to be settle?
please help! i feel bad what i've done! please kindly tell me the safe ways for paying the recovery.

You are best to send payment using the method(s) suggested by the Civil recovery service. Far as things being over no one here can say for certain but its reasonable assumption that once Civil Demand is paid you can consider the matter over

Be sure to comeback and tell us how things go. You can also post in our section called "Testimonials" if we helped you at all. I would also like to invite you to stay and share your story with others who come here. I would advise you not to give legal advice but share your experience

Sorry,
i still have a question that i wanted to ask it that, the letter was addressed to my mother, do i send the recovery letter back using my mothers name or my name?

Send it back with both your name and your moms name so its credited to your case.

First i have to say thanks, , but in the letter ,they told you to sign the sinature,,, whom signature should it be ?

There should be a case number assigned to your name/mothers name. Call the 1-800 Number on the letter and ask them how you should make the the check etc. You may even want to consider paying it electronically (there might be a small transaction fee) that way you can have it over and done with and will not have to worry about the payment being processed properly.

Before you mail anything, contact the company and talk to them. You may be able to negotiate a payment plan and they can assist you in making sure the payments are applied.

The worst thing you can do is ignore this letter. Things do not just go away even though the company might stop sending letters or calling. By talking to them, it shows that you are serious about making good on this amount due and they will work with those who work with them.

Good luck.

They sometimes accept payment over the phone via check/visa/mastercard. They often charge a small transaction fee, but this is guaranteed to go to your account on that date. The funds are taken from your account electronically.

You may also be able to send a western union payment. All of these options ensure that your account is up to date and you do not have to wait for the check to arrive at their facilities in the mail and to get cashed.
