A friend got busted selling weed to a person we know that had a wire on. Cops took there car because it was used in the buy and told my friend to call the drug officer on Monday. What steps do we take now?

I would contact a lawyer and seek legal advice.

Does the owner of the car own it outright, or is he/she still financing the car?

If its financed, the lien holder will eventually get it back.

Its never a good idea to discuss any criminal matters with the police UNLESS you have an attorney present.

Remember the part of the Miranda Warning that goes..."anything you say can, and will be used against you in a court of law"?

That's very true, it will be used against you.

So, retain a lawyer, or wait until he/she is arrested, be polite, remain silent (other than name, address, date of birth), request a lawyer, shut up, wait, stay out of more trouble, and for God's sake LEAVE ALL DOPE ALONE.
