My daughter has had a child with her ex they were together for 4 yrs. recently split up and he has been entering the house taking items while she's at work. Harassing on the phone and causing excessive stress on her. They split because of his drug use ( while caring for the baby ( 2 yr old )especially ) as well as his unwillingness to work to help support their child. She paid off his truck with her bank card which he got while they were together and refuses to compensate her and has now taken most of the valuables from her house. What rights does she have?

They were not married?

She is likely going to take most of this as a loss.

She can speak with an attorney about the details to determine if there is anything worthy of a civil suit, but it sounds as if he is a deadbeat who has nothing to sue for and will never pay up.

She should get a child custody/visitation order right away and seek child support.

She can bring a small claims case against him and seek compensation.
She might prevail, but then collecting from a drug addict won't be easy.
Nevertheless, if she prevails, she might reap a small slice of personal satisfaction.

She can also seek an order of protection in an attempt to seek some safety.

Otherwise, installing an alarm system, changing all locks (if she rents, get LL approval) will also help ensure her safety.
