My jurisdiction is: Calif.
A tenant has moved out. Got herself another apartment, But has left a good portion of her property at our house claiming she can't afford to store it anywhere. According to the police she is still a legal resident until she is formally evicted even though she chose to move out. She still has keys, comes and goes as she pleases, even allowed her runaway minor son to stay here last night unattended. When I objected and took his key, the police made me give it back to her. What's next?.. parties ?..friends sleeping over ?. My brother is the legal owner of the house but lives elsewhere in a home that is co-signed by her. My nephew (her boyfriend) still lives in the house here and although seperated from her still enjoys the " friends with benefits" part of there relationship. I am the caretaker of the property and live in a seperate home at the back of the property. She Does Not Live Here Anymore! But apparently she has more rights than we do!
I know..Family B...S...
There has to be something I can do to protect this house from becoming a flop house for runaways, excess friends that don't fit in her new place or a free storage unit!
