I was working for an abusive company and decided to find another job. I found a great position with another company and was excited to start my new Journey. Wanting to leave the old company in good standing I asked what was to be my new supervisor if I could give them a 3 week notice. At which he replied they could not wait that long and two weeks was all they could afford for the new employee to start. I gave my two week notice and left my old job on the best note I could. The following Monday I started my new job and things were going well everyone who was training me told me I was a great addition to their team and I was going to make great strides in the company. On Friday the same week the manager called me on the phone and let me go because " they could not afford my salary". I am a single mother with two children and I would have never left my job for no reason. Now I'm without a job and no money to survive on. I realize Illinois maybe a employ at will state however these circumstances are not usual and left me without any income to support my family.

Sorry to hear about the predicament that you are in. This happens to folks of all walks of life every day and unfortunately the only thing you can do is file for unemployment insurance while you seek new employment with a more reputable company.

It's a very unfortunate situation but it can happen and there's nothing illegal about it. Best of luck to you and hopefully the next job will work out and thankfully you're out of the "abusive company."

Sorry but that happens sometimes. There is not anything illegal about it.

As noted, you can apply for unemployment ins. & look for other employment.

Good luck.

Personal circumstances have no bearing on the law. They do not have to retain you because you are a parent, or the only one working in your household, or you have no savings. File for UC and keep looking.
