My husband and I applied for a management position for a small motel. We relocated 3 hours to this motel and were told we were on a 90 day probation and would be reevaluated at that time. It has been 4 weeks since we moved and started this job. It can come to my attention they are interviewing for "new" managers and have been all along. The previous managers bought a motel and had to leave, so this owner was pressed to have someone here. If we were not qualified or as the previous manager stated (to the maid) we are not the right fix. Why have us pack and moved everything just to be looking all along? They had a part time worker here (she fills in on our 1 day off a week) and could have worked til they did find someone. I did find out they have "interview" due here on Aug 7th (4 days from now). Do we any recourse?

Absent an employment contract, you have no recourse. You serve at the pleasure of your employer, and your employer retains your services at his peril, too. Why? You are free to quit any time you desire to do so.

If you're aware of your soon to be demise, be smart, resign now; UNLESS YOU DESIRE UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE.

and for them to attempt tax collection on the event.
