hockey pucks

My neighbor and his sons have a large back yard but they go to the front of the house where the driveway is to practice shooting hockey pucks into a net. My complaint is that they position the net on their property so that any missed shots come flying into my yard and often across my driveway. It is only by chance that they have not yet damaged my car or my daughter's car. Also annoying is that after they have emptied their bucket of pucks, they boldly come wandering around in my yard to pick up their pucks. What can I do about this while not seeming like being a big jerk?

Write them a very nice note asking them not to trespass on your property and tell them your concerns regarding potential damage to your property. Keep a copy for yourself. Suggest they find a different location for their net.

Before doing any building or planting (you shouldn't have to), talk to the neighbors.
